SIMPLE FUTURE / FUTURO SIMPLE

The Simple Future is a verb tense that is used to describe actions that are going to take place in the future without the need to clarify when they will take place. Its equivalent in the Spanish language is the Future Imperfect. For example / El Futuro Simple es un tiempo verbal que se utiliza para describir acciones que se van a desarrollar en el futuro sin necesidad de aclarar en que momento se producirán. Su equivalente en el idioma español es el Futuro Imperfecto. Por ejemplo:

-I will study the lesson. Yo estudiaré la lección.
(No se menciona en que tiempo)

-He will travel to London. Él viajará a Londres.
(No se especifica cuando)

-They will buy a new car. Ellos comprarán un nuevo auto.
(No se sabe en que momento)

Although the time in which the action will take place can also be expressed, for example /Aunque también se puede expresar el tiempo en el que se desarrollará la acción, por ejemplo:

-Susan will visit her mother tomorrow. (Susan visitará a su madre mañana.)

-John will travel to New York the next month. (John viajará a Nueva York el próximo mes.)

Este tiempo verbal utiliza para su construcción el auxiliar WILL seguido del verbo principal en infinitivo. En el siguiente cuadro veremos la conjugación del Futuro simple en sus formas afirmativa, interrogativa y negativa. (Utilizamos el verbo bailar – TO DANCE – a modo de ejemplo):

Do you want to talk about your next vacation? Or maybe where you want to work in a few years? What you want to buy for your birthday? For all this and more, the future simple in English is used through will. / ¿Quieres hablar sobre tus próximas vacaciones?, ¿o tal vez de dónde quieres trabajar en unos años?, ¿de lo que te quieres comprar en tu cumpleaños? Para todo eso y más sirve el futuro simple en inglés a través de will.

- In this case, will is used to express an invitation or an informal plan. Let us remember that I'll = I will, it is only contracted./En este caso, will nos sirve para expresar una invitación o un plan informal. Recordemos que I’ll = I will, sólo está contraído.

I’ll see you on Friday / Te veo el viernes:

- We make an invitation using will. /Hacemos una invitación usando will.

Will you go to the appointment with me? / ¿Me acompañarás a la cita?

- To talk about things that are likely to happen. / Para hablar de cosas que probablemente ocurran.

It’ll probably rain at night / Probablemente lloverá en la noche

- In this sentence, “will” is used to give orders. /En esta frase, “will” nos sirve para dar órdenes.

You will listen to the nanny and do as she says / Escucharás a la niñera y harás lo que diga.

- We talked about something we will do in the future./ Hablamos de algo que haremos en el futuro.

We will have an online meeting / tendremos una reunión online.

AFFIRMATIVE FORM

Para contractions.

Formally it is written in the long form. / De manera formal se escribe en la forma larga: He will clean the house. / Él limpiará la casa.

As you can see, no matter who the subject of the sentence is, we will always use the auxiliary "will". /Como pueden notar no importa quien sea el sujeto de la oración siempre vamos a usar el auxiliar "will".

If we use the subject pronouns (I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they) in spoken English we can use the contraction or short form between the subject and the auxiliary (subject +'ll). / Si usamos los pronombres sujeto (I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they) en inglés hablado podemos usar la contracción o forma corta entre el sujeto y el auxiliar (sujeto +'ll). He’ll clean the house. / Él limpiará la casa.

Example: / Ejemplo:

I'll be the best painter in the world. / Seré el mejor pintor del mundo.

 

SIMPLE FUTURE AFFIRMATIVE FORM
STRUCTURE  Example: I will buy her a car. / Le compraré a ella un carro.
I will play tennis. I’ll play tennis.	Jugaré tenis.
We will paint the house. We’ll paint the house.	Nosotros pintaremos la casa.
I will go to the store now. / I’ll go to the store now.	Iré a la tienda ahora.
He will do it soon. /He’ll do it soon.	Él lo hará pronto.
We’ll see him later.	Nosotros lo veremos a él más tarde.
Our coach thinks we will play tomorrow at 3 o’clock.	Nuestro entrenador cree que jugaremos mañana a las 3 en punto.
The boys will fight all day.	Los chicos pelearán todo el día.
Careful! Your manager will probably read those messages.	¡Cuidadoso! Su gerente probablemente leerá esos mensajes.

NEGATIVE FORM

To make negative sentences, the same pattern is used as in an affirmative sentence plus the negative particle "not" after the auxiliary. / Para hacer oraciones negativas se usa el mismo patrón que en una oración afirmativa  más la partícula negativa "not" después del auxiliar.

Example/ ejemplo: They will not paint a picture.

The contraction of will not is won't used in informal contexts of spoken English. /La contracción de will not es won't que se usa en contextos informales de inglés hablado.

Example/ Ejemplo: I won't be the best painter in the world.

STRUCTURE Example: I will not(won’t) buy her a car. / No le compraré a ella un carro.
She will not buy a house. She won’t buy a house.	Ella no comprará una casa.
They will not go to the party. They won’t go to the party.	Ellos no irán a la fiesta.
He won’t be home at that time.	Él no estará en casa a esa hora.
I won’t wait in the car.	No esperaré en el carro.
You girlfriend will not be happy about that.	Tu novia no estará feliz por eso.
Our manager won’t write me a recommendation.	Nuestro gerente no me escribirá una recomendación.
He won’t study this afternoon.	No estudiará esta tarde.
I’m sure they won’t bring anything to the party.	Estoy seguro de que no traerán nada a la fiesta.
My husband won’t say what’s wrong.	Mi esposo no dice lo que está mal.
My children will not clean their rooms.	Mis hijos no limpian sus habitaciones.
I will not speak to him again.	No volveré a hablar con él.

INTERROGATIVE FORM OR YES/NO QUESTIONS

To ask questions, the auxiliary (will) is placed at the beginning followed by the subject, plus the verb and a complement. Always close questions with a question mark (?). / Para hacer preguntas se coloca el auxiliar (will) al inicio seguido del sujeto, más el verbo y un complemento. Siempre cerrar las preguntas con signo de interrogación (?).

Will + sujeto + verbo + complement?

It is answered like this / Se responde así:

Afirmativo: Yes, sujeto + will               Negativo: No, sujeto + won't

Example/ Ejemplo:

Will I pass the exam tomorrow?

Yes, I will.                     No, I won't

Will he buy her a gift? Yes, He will.    No, He won’t.	¿Él le comprará un regalo a ella? Si él lo hará.          No, no lo hará.
Will you please pray for me? Yes, You will.    No, You won’t.	¿Podrías orar por mí? Sí lo harás.            No, no lo harás.

Futuro con going to

 There is another future form that uses going to instead of will. You have to know the uses of each one well to avoid confusion, since one of its translations is to go to do. /Existe otra forma de futuro que utiliza going to en lugar de will. Hay que conocer bien los usos de cada uno para evitar confusiones, ya que una de sus traducciones es ir a hacer.

Going to is used for / Going to se usa para:

 

Plans that are 100% sure to happen / Planes que es 100% seguro que van a ocurrir:		Predictions that are certain / Predicciones de las que se tiene seguridad
I am going to present my final exams tomorrow.	Mañana voy a presentar mis exámenes finales.	Your concert is going to be the best of the year!	Tu concierto va a ser el mejor del año.
I am going to see you this holiday season.	Voy a verte estas vacaciones.	I am not going to study law in that university.	No voy a estudiar Derecho en esa universidad.
They are going to eat out tonight.	Ellos van a comer afuera esta noche.	We are not going to spend all day together.	Nosotros no vamos a pasar todo el día juntos.
