Definition: Adjectives are words that are used to describe or modify nouns or pronouns. For example, red, quick, happy, and obnoxious are adjectives because they can describe things—a red hat, the quick rabbit, a happy duck, an obnoxious person. 

Adjectives are words used to describe people, places, things, animals, and events.

Definición: Los adjetivos son palabras que se usan para describir o modificar sustantivos o pronombres. Por ejemplo, rojo, rápido, feliz y detestable son adjetivos porque pueden describir cosas: un sombrero rojo, el conejo rápido, un pato feliz, una persona detestable.

Los adjetivos son palabras usadas para describir personas, lugares, cosas, animales y eventos. 

An adjective often comes BEFORE a noun: / Un adjetivo a menudo viene ANTES de un sustantivo:

• a green car / un carro verde
• a dark sky  / un cielo oscuro
• an interesting story  / una historia interesante
• a pretty girl. / Una chica bonita.

And sometimes an adjective comes AFTER a verb: / Y a veces un adjetivo viene DESPUÉS de un verbo:

• My car is green. / Mi carro es verde.
• The sky became dark. / El cielo se oscureció.
• His story seemed interesting. / Su historia parecía interesante.

But adjectives can also modify pronouns (She is beautiful). Look at these examples: / Pero los adjetivos también pueden modificar pronombres (She is beautiful). Mira estos ejemplos:

• They were empty. / Ellos estaban vacíos.
• I thought it seemed strange. / Yo pensé que parecía extraño.
• Those are not expensive. / Esos no son caros.
